Jay-Z Does Battlefield 3
In a new teaser, Jay-Z's 99 Problems track is seen to play over a 20 second clip showing some quick Battlefield 3 footage. The larger trailer is due to come soon apparently.
The choice of music is not really ideal. It reeks too much of an attempt to mimic the equally horrid Eminem appearance on some Call of Duty: Black Ops footage.
EA should be distinguishing itself with Battlefield from the competition, offering something new.
As it stands, mimicking even advertising campaigns is just not boding well for EA's strategies.
This mini trailer was a 'miss' for me. Doesn't really do anything for me, especially when I remember the grandeur of the original Battlefield themes that were iconic and representative of the Battlefield occasion.
Even Bad Company as a spin off had some pretty good soundtracks rolling in the back. Memorable is the word I'm looking for.
But this Jay-Z rap direction? No way. The hipsters, or whomever this is targeted at, will just move on to whatever is trendy at the time. These aren't your real fans, your core audience DICE.
Things better pickup EA. As it stands, you're only pushing me away from the game I so want to love.
Beta is coming soon so watch this space.

I like Jay-Z game. I like Battlefield. It doesn’t gel at all. It’s marketing bull, and not what I associate with the BF name.
